New "Treatments From a Specialist" Leaflet

Continuing with our leaflet series, we are pleased to launch our new ‘Treatments from a specialist’ leaflet.

For people with severe psoriasis or psoriasis that is more difficult to treat, your GP may refer you to a dermatologist, either based at a hospital or in the community.

A dermatology referral will usually follow after first-line treatments have been administered, for psoriasis that hasn’t responded well to existing treatment, or for rarer types of psoriasis, such as GPP or nail psoriasis.

The updated resource, which is part of our new leaflet series launched during Psoriasis Awareness Week, features real-life images of psoriasis and interactions between healthcare professionals and people living with psoriasis. The leaflet includes images of different types of psoriasis across all areas of the body.

Alongside general advice, the resource includes National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidance and detailed information about both primary care and secondary care treatments. There are certain treatments such as UV light therapy that can only be prescribed by a specialist.

The new ‘Treatments from a specialist’ leaflet is available to view and download here. You can find more resources in the leaflets and information sheets section of our website.
